Two years ago, I was a participating in this event as a competitor.  This year, I will be judging it.  I wish all the students a good luck.
 

Seattle University Project Day

More than a decade ago, I was one of the students at Seattle Unviersity participating in the Engineering Project Day.  That day is here again but for other students.  Engineering teams will be presenting their results to the public. Prospective sponsors and students are strongly encouraged to come to Projects Day to both see what the students have accomplished this year and gain a better utnderstanding of the Project Center. Students host presentation tables and give short presentations on their projects. Feel free to drop in and see this year's projects.This event is open to everyone.  Feel free to see what tomorrow's innovators are upto.

So I didn't want to buy a new laptop and it was very hard for me to use my Microsoft keyboard while sitting on a couch or bed.  My solution the problem: Instead of paying $300 to Lenovo to fix my keyboard, I bought an 87-Key USB Mini Keyboard for $14.99 + tax from a local store called Computer Stop.   It fits nicely on my laptops currenty keyboard and works fine.  It will take some time to get used to it but it beats buying a new laptop or staying away for 10 business days and spending $300 to get a keypad fixed. 

I had a rather unpleasant experience with Lenovo today.  I accidently spilled few drops of tea on my Lenovo Y410 notebook and the keyboard went bad. God knows how many times I might spilled tea or water on my old Toshiba, nothing ever happend.  Well then I called Lenovo and told them about what happened.  While the CSR was very courtesous, I got some disappointing answers.

1.  I should have bought a damage insurance (around $200 product for a $700 laptop).
2. The only place I get it fixed is from Lenovo by shipping it to Texas (means I have to part with my laptop atleast for a week), and it will cost money. (probably around $300?)
3. Lenovo wouldn't sell me a keypad so that I an just replace it myself.  I should try some repair shop and see if they have one lying around.

To make the matters worse, I searched for one online.  No one carres it.
What does this mean?  Unless I am willing to shell out money or use an external keyboard, I am out of luck.  I guess I will just buy a new laptop and it will not be Lenovo.
